Ten Celebrities Talk Cannabis

Stars - they’re just like us! Celebrities are becoming more open about their cannabis consumption in the media, using their platforms to help destigmatize the plant. There is a special place in our hearts for the OG stoner celebs, though it’s also important to hear narratives representative of all kinds of consumers. It has been refreshing to see celebrities of diverse ages and backgrounds be honest about why cannabis works for them. Here are some of our favs:

Bella Thorne

Bella isn’t shocking anyone by being on this list, there are videos of her smoking on YouTube. She proclaims to be a reformed ‘goodie two-shoes’ and thinks it’s silly to compare weed to hard drugs. Bella’s a great example of having a healthy relationship with weed. Honestly it should be just as normalized to have a cannabis section in your kitchen (if you like weed) as it is to have a wine rack in there (if you like wine).

Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman gave up cigarettes over a decade ago, but says he won’t ever give up his ganja! Now that he is older, he also finds relief in medical cannabis for severe nerve pain and fibromyalgia from a terrible car accident. Freeman is a great example of a person being able to enjoy cannabis both for adult use and a medical prescription.

Olivia Newton John

Olivia stole our hearts as Sandy in the movie Grease, and hasn’t stopped being loveable since. While battling her third round of cancer, her husband would make tinctures from cannabis to help ease her pain from treatments. Olivia is vocal about how effective cannabis has been for her and openly calls for Australia, her birth country, to legalize medical marijuana.

Kristen Bell

Kristen is quickly becoming a favourite among canna-moms! She isn’t shy about admitting that weed is her ‘drug of choice’ and that she enjoys the occasional puff on her vape. Kristen is also a believer in the healing power of CBD, and uses it every day for anxiety.

Nicki Minaj

No one embodies “looks like Barbie, smells like Marley” more than rapper Nicki Minaj. She has shared photos on her instagram of her smoking with fellow rappers and even released a song called titled Ganja Burn. In an interview once she talked about how weed works magic on her sex drive.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has helped fibromyalgia sufferers feel heard and validated after discussing her relationship with cannabis in Netflix documentary Gaga: Five foot two. If you listen to her lyrics it is also possible that Lady Gaga uses recreationally, as well as medically.

Sir Patrick Stewart

Bless Sir Patrick Stewart for talking about using medical cannabis for his arthritis pain! The actor has spoken about using infused topical salves and edible cannabis to treat the pain in his hands. Stewart has been impressed with how effective it is, giving him mobility back in his hands that he had lost.

Queen Latifah

You can always count on Queen Latifah to be open and honest, and her approach to weed is no different. The actress has been vocal on the subject since the 90’s when she was arrested for possession of cannabis. Our fav #queen moment was when Latifah responded “ A blunt!” to the questions “things you roll” on television.

Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten Dunst has an open relationship with Mary Jane, and we aren’t talking about her character in the former Spiderman franchise. The actress is a fan of weed, having said that if everyone were to partake the world might be a better place.

Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi has been seen with her trusty vape pen and advocates for the legalization of medical cannabis in the US. The actress uses weed to help with her Glaucoma and has opened a company called Whoopi and Maya to help women ease menstrual cramps.
