Cannabidiol (CBD) is seemingly taking over the skin-care atmosphere. The compound, found in homegrown cannabis and hemp is noted to have anti-inflammatory features that could be healthy for the skin, so it’s no wonder that it appears to be helpful universally.

CBD oil is broadly blended in many skincare products and cosmetics. In fact, it's become quite a hyped compound. CBD oil is not just trendy, it can provide benefits to almost any type of skin.

More research is being done to actually understand how CBD oil works on the skin. Although initial results are intriguing, much more study needs to be done. CBD oil has no euphoric style side effects on its own (you need THC for that to kick in), although it's possible that some people may be more receptive to the compound.

When seeking any new skincare product for the first time, be mindful of any signs of irritation: redness, itching, burning, or rash.

How CBD works

Specialists say that it comes down to the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a network of receptors found in every mammal. This system is responsible for sustaining the body’s homeostasis (balance) and helps regulate everything from sleep to pain, to appetite, to immune function, to stress.

Studies indicate that the human body is primed to react to the introduction of CBD. Humans naturally produce endocannabinoids, and CBD is a related phytocannabinoid. Both clearly affect the ECS in comparable ways. It’s usually described as a lock and key system, where the cannabinoid is the unlocking key receptor, causing a chain of reactions throughout the body. There's evidence to suggest that this can lead to reduced inflammation, calm skin and more.

Nanoparticle CBD For Skin

Some studies have noted that topically applied CBD can also help lessen oil generation in addition to reducing inflammation in the skin, which are two principal actors in the generation of acne. Adding the anti-inflammatory effects of CBD can help calm skin and diminish redness too. Additionally, it also has antioxidant and regenerative properties to help counteract damage from the sun, pollution, and aging.

Basically, it seems everyone’s skin can stand to benefit from using CBD oil on their skin.

Nanoparticles are so small that they can be absorbed into the bloodstream more efficiently than regular-sized bits of the same substance. As nanoparticles of CBD oil can be mixed with water and our body is composed of 95 percent water, the absorption of a water-compatible molecule is always going to be higher than an oil infusion.

This means Nano-CBD has more bioavailability than regular CBD oil. The active components need to reach the more profound layers of skin where the tissue is living to cause a physiological adjustment so nanoparticles are an excellent way to deliver results.

CBD’s Potential As An Alternative Acne Solution Is Interesting

What’s clear from many studies is that CBD oil acts as an anti-inflammatory. So why does that matter with skincare? One reason is its ability to help calm and soothe skin, especially skin that’s acne-prone. Because acne is an inflammatory ailment, research indicates CBD’s calming qualities can further reduce breakouts and diminish redness. Surprisingly, recent findings also note that CBD has the potential to limit excessive sebum generation, as well as help balance other triggers of acne.

CBD Oil as An Antioxidant For Anti-aging And Wrinkles

It turns out CBD oil also has antioxidant qualities that can help reduce the visible signs of aging skin. By neutralizing free-radical damage, CBD anti-aging creams may be capable of easing visible issues like wrinkles, skin dullness, and ruddy skin tone.

CBD oil is huge in antioxidant components: fatty acids like gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), and vitamins A, C, and E. Antioxidant skincare products may give the skin some shield against early aging.

Moisturizing Sensitive Skin with CBD

Another benefit of CBD oil is that it has been observed to have vital soothing qualities. It's important skin-calming and skin-normalizing effects can help lessen concerns related to skin sensitivity, including redness.

This is the most prominent and most well-verified benefit that CBD oil can deliver. The oil is an emollient that offers the skin a feeling of softness and suppleness.

Potential Antibacterial Properties

Research also suggests that CBD oil has antibacterial properties. What impact CBD has on the skin, if any, is still being looked at. CBD oil and other cannabinoids are being examined as potential remedies for a vast array of skin ailments like acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and skin cancer.

Side Notes

On top of evolving legal regulations, the many different types of cannabis-derived products available in the beauty and skincare industry can add an extra layer of confusion for users. In other words, it is a completely complex space packed with as many questions as there are product offerings. CBD users need to take the time to not only research the products they’re using and the brand they’re acquiring them from but to also educate themselves on how CBD works and what it can actually do for the skin and body.

Users should note that the regulations and information circling CBD are still progressing. As such, the data contained in this post should not be interpreted as therapeutic or lawful advice. Consult with your doctor before using any substance or supplement.
