5 Healthy Snacks to Satisfy the Munchies

By Jessica Nudo

Snacking can be a pain around the waist line when you’re eating the wrong things. We know that processed foods often taste the best (they’re designed that way, after all), and they can be addictive. So what about those with dietary restrictions who seek to satisfy the cravings brought on by Miss Jane?

If you’re going to replenish your endocannabinoid system for recreational purposes, may as well bring a solid snack game!

Yes, we know that rhymes.

Here are 5 healthy munchies - and recipes - to prepare for your next sesh!

No Whole 30 Bake Keto + Paleo Energy Balls

Whole 30 Chocolate Energy Balls recipe courtesy of The Big Man’s World

As someone who loves to eat all the things, there’s nothing worse than having the munchies while on a restricted diet. When I was keto for three months last summer, my cravings had cravings and it was tough to stay in ketosis.

While diet trends come and go, chocolate is necessary (always) and even comes from a plant (so, it’s basically salad). These balls are healthy, made with whole foods and even Whole 30 approved. Find the recipe here.

Superfood Popcorn (WARNING: highly addictive!)

Super duper food popcorn for your next Netflix + sesh

Time to throw out your Kernels seasoning shakers and take adulting to extremes. I guarantee you will never look at popcorn the same ever again. Personally, I prefer to use smoked paprika because it makes the popcorn taste a bit like bacon (I’m convinced this is how I got through being a vegetarian for 5 years).

The recipe can be found on Bon Appetit.

Kale Chips w/ All the Fixings

Cannabis is the new kale anyway, right?

When potato chips won’t cut it, all hail the kale! Our Netflix and sesh always includes this snack because it’s satisfyingly crunchy and packs a nutritious punch. When baked properly, this snack is one that I cannot get enough of - and it’s easier on the wallet when compared to the ready-made brands that will run you upwards of $10 a bag.

No-Bake Lemon Poppy Seed Glazed Donut Holes

Many of us will all agree that donuts are delicious munchies, but eating them en masse does more harm than good. We love this recipe made by Alison Wu with natural ingredients that looks super tasty, and they are easy to make.

Moist & Spongy Lemon Cake (Pssst: it’s Keto!)

With spring around the corner, we are all about the lemons. They are fresh and refreshing and quite possibly the greatest fruit X dessert collaboration created in recorded history.

Thanks to coconut and almond flour, baked goods are increasing the healthy while decreasing the carbs, meaning there are better options out there for the wellness-savvy and those with food sensitivities.
